Welcome to Spirits of the Earth, a fantasy role-playing game where literally anything is possible. Set on a very future Earth after the collapse of civilization and the rebirth of the Earth itself, the game centers around a large and diverse world and the various beings that live there. Healed from the scars the wars and technologies of the past inflicted upon it, from a bird’s eye view all might seem peaceful and serene, but that is far from the case, for already history is beginning to repeat itself in the form of wars, greed, racial and religious conflict, and political corruption.
Since its creation on December 13, 2000, SotE has always been a community for writers, readers, artists, lurkers, and anyone who just wants to have some fun and immerse themselves in a fantasy world for a while. It’s a game that values interesting characters (animal and humanoid), engaging plots, OOC respect for other players, and a universal acceptance of players of all ages and skill levels. The focus is on story telling and the development and expansion of characters and plots; there are no statistics or dice involved. This game isn't about who has the most powerful character on the site or not, nor is it about winning or losing, but it is about having free reign of your creativity, characters and plots, trying new things, and, most importantly having fun! What does this mean? It means that any plot goes, the sky’s the limit, and you are totally free to join any original character of any species, animal, humanoid, or totally made up on the fly. The world itself is in a constant state of change and is always growing and expanding. SotE is a game with a focus on world-building, and new locations are always being created and added; many have been created by the players themselves. It's a massive world, but don't worry, with our friendly members and welcoming community it's impossible to get lost! Sound like fun? Well, then just go right on ahead and browse around the site, and if it catches your fancy, join a character and come play! And please, if you have any questions that weren't answered on the site, don't be afraid to ask! Don't let the size scare you! No one bites, promise! Or…at least…not since the muzzles shipped in.

Serendipity and Adela have been updated and now have a section devoted to their cultures, and Connlaoth's Mordecai information has been updated--Mordecai are no longer a secret thing since, well, that didn't make much sense. :B The kingdoms will continue to be fleshed out, but this is just a start. ;D And I'm updating the new species and religions that were submitted, as well. It needn't be in one thread but have several wings of attacks over several threads. There would be people taking over outposts, comming from the air, the ground and underground. if you have a Mordacai, human, mage, freedom fighter, prisoner, villager or anybody who would be available to fight, pillage, protect, hide defend or attack in any way that is related to the attack, drop a note here. That's right, you can now RP your characters in the past with other peoples' characters in the past! It's a great way to explore what your character's childhood was like, who their friends and enemies were, and all sortsa things. Who knows, you may learn something new about a character. :3 So yeah! If you haven't already noticed, the forum has been majorly upgraded! From phpbb2 to phpbb3 to be exact. :3 This gives us lotsa nifty new features like subforums, custom profile fields, and the ability to bookmark your threads (which saves the threads in your user control panel) and save drafts of your unfinished posts (which saves them in your user control panel so you can edit them later). There are many many more features, too, so explore them! :3 We don't have HTML anymore, on the downside, but we CAN make custom bbcode to do pretty much anything. ^_^ And we also now have a Player Limits subforum where you can post what your limits are as a player for everyone else's reference. Very useful methinks! So that's about it! 8D Hope everyone likes the shiny new forum! And many thanks go out to Tal for helping me!
