Spirits of the Earth is an original high fantasy role-playing game set on the large and diverse world, focusing primarily on the lively continent of Le'raana. Here you will find exotic city-states and thriving kingdoms, miles of untamed wilderness to explore and untold adventures to discover. Here gather the highborn and low, the fettered and free, the innocent and corrupt, to tell their stories...

Since its creation on December 13, 2000, SotE has always been a community for writers, readers, artists, lurkers, and anyone who just wants to have some fun and immerse themselves in a fantasy world for a while. It’s a game that values interesting characters (animal and humanoid), engaging plots, OOC respect for other players, and a universal acceptance of players of all ages and skill levels. The focus is on story telling and the development characters and plots; there are no statistics or dice involved. This game isn't about who has the most powerful character on the site or not, nor is it about winning or losing, but it is about having free reign of your creativity, trying new things, and most importantly having fun!

What does this mean? It means that any plot goes, the sky’s the limit, and you are totally free to join any original character of any species, including those you have created.

The world itself is in a constant state of change and is always expanding. SotE is a game with a focus on world-building, and new locations are always being created; many have been created by the players themselves. It's a massive world, but don't worry; with our friendly members and welcoming community, it's impossible to get lost!

A general reminder about harassment and creepsters.

Aug 15, 2010 - 2:17pm

Here at SotE, we take OOC harassment seriously.

If anything at all ever makes you feel uncomfortable, alienated, or just generally inhibits your enjoyment of the site, please contact an admin or mod immediately so we can handle the situation!

We do not tolerate OOC harassment at all, so if anyone ever tries to pressure you into doing something you don't want to do (anything from trying to force you into a plot you've said you're uncomfortable with to pressuring you to give out personal information), bullies you, personally attacks you, guilt-trips you, harasses you, or just generally creeps you out, please let us know! It doesn't matter if this has taken place in public, over PMs, or over IMs--we want to know, because we do not want people like that on this site and we would much rather them leave than you leave.

And personally, I know what it's like to be harassed online. I don't wish that on anyone, and that's why I want to stomp it out fast if it rears its head here. We're a pretty big game, and I can't always see everything that goes on here, especially if it happens in a private space. So please help me help everyone else here by reporting that kind of behavior.

People like this will usually try and guilt-trip and emotionally manipulate you into believing that whatever has happened is your fault, and that no one else will believe you. They want to isolate you like this--because they don't want you to report them. Whatever happens, just know that we (the staff) will not blame you, and we will take action against the harasser.

SotE is a safe space, so we want it to be a fun, comfortable place for everyone. <3

Y'all can totally go and claim provinces in Serendipity now. :3 There are eight up for grabs, and links to info to read up on Serendipity's political structure. You can also reserve a province for a couple of weeks if you don't have a character created for it yet.

Go forth and claim! <3

The Search for Serendipity's King Continues....

Sep 01, 2009 - 2:08pm

King Fenway and the Head Mage Chailyn have been missing from Serendipity for months now, and no one has come any closer to finding them. The kingdom has been thrown into turmoil as nobles have begun fighting for a chance to take the throne should the King remain missing. Many disappearances and deaths have arisen due to these battles between the noble class.

The most information anyone has been able to gather on the King's and Head Mage's disappearance leads to the port of Cerenis, where Fenway and Chailyn were recognized by a man in one of the local taverns. This man has, of course, been questioned and provided the following information:

1) The king entered the tavern at approximately four hours past noon with only Chailyn as his escort.

2) The Head Mage left the tavern for a few minutes after using her magic on an innocent man, only to return later and escort King Fenway outside.

3) A few other citizens commented that they saw the Head Mage, along with a red-haired man pull the king onto a waiting ship and set sail, heading South.

Serendipity has ruled out the possibility that the King left on his own free will. Many eye-witness accounts suggest that he was overcome by force and kidnapped. Currently, the red haired man is unknown, but the possibility that King Fenway was taken as part of a political ploy arranged by Chailyn is at the forefront of the investigation.

A warrant is out for the arrest of the Head Mage, Chailyn. She is approximate 5'6" with deep auburn hair and green eyes. If found, she is to be returned to the palace immediately for questioning. She can be extremely dangerous and you should take any anti-magic precautions available before attempting to apprehend her.

(OOC: Any question, please PM me! Also! If you're a noble vying for the throne, remember that the only way they'll replace the King is if there is proof that he has been killed. You will have to incorporate this into your plots! ^_^ Also, be aware of the possible repercussions this would entail for your characters should Fenway return. )
